Thermal performance evaluation and energy saving potential of semi-transparent CdTe in Façade BIPV

Semi-transparent PV glazing are promising in Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) applications. They provide daylight control, energy saving and power generation. The selection of optimal (PV) requires the accounting for various factors such as location, orientation transparency. In this work, thermal performance Cadmium telluride (CdTe) based semi-transparent different transparencies was evaluated UK South South-West orientations. Thermal analysed terms U-value, SHGC cooling load. Results revealed that least transparency CdTe can have U-values low 1.52 W/m2K. use reduce 96% solar heat gains 23.2% compared to conventional clear when used orientation. optimum discussed taking into consideration occupants’ optical comfort health.
